#103: When Disney Goes Softcore!

When you think back to your childhood, especially the movies that made your little eyes go wide, you think Disney.

Even the toughest, most burly Alpha Male has fond memories of a Walt Disney feature – and Mickey and the gang, of course. They were cute, innocent and pure, just as Uncle Walt had envisioned – when he wasn’t hating Jews, that is.

Okay, so the Disney legacy has a few rough spots, I concede that point, but they’re responsible for creating some of the finest animated characters on the planet. I don’t think anyone can argue that point, right?

Well, maybe now they can…

Barneys New York is partnering with The House of Mouse for their festive holiday campaign – yes, its almost that time of year already – extravaganza. Photos and even a short film picture iconic characters like Daisy Duck walking the runway in designer clothing, but there have been a few tweaks added to our beloved friends – to say the least.

Just think what would happen if Vivid Video won the licensing rights to Disney’s character catalog and you’re on the right track… I don’t know what they had in mind with this look, but the folks at Barney’s need to take a cold shower.

Or ten.

I can only imagine the path my childhood would have taken had I been watching a Jenna Jameson/Daisy Duck hybrid for years. I know one thing, I would have gotten more action… Nah, who am I kidding?

But most kids would have. Bottom line: somebody messed up here – Big Time. I can’t wait to see their Valentine’s day campaign…

#130: Miley Cyrus!

Yes, she gets her own specific entry.

She’s just that bad. And that much of a disappointment. From the Disney Channel to The Playboy Channel (it’s inevitable, I’m predicting it right here and now!) she has simply given up, it seems.

Rather than make music or act – she may have sucked at both, but she was trying – she simply wants to take the Kardashian route and be famous for being famous. Sure, she is supposedly recording a new album, but who cares?

This is all the public pays attention to…

And who can blame them?

#175: People Who Kick The Hornet’s Nest Deliberately!

English: American actor George Takei at the St...

I’m talking to you, George Takei.

I can understand your desire to use your celebrity status to do more than appear on The Big Bang Theory in Howard’s sex dreams (Seriously, check the episode out!) but do you have to mess with Disney?

It’s like the Federation taking on the Klingons – the entire empire – with one phaser!

For those of you who have no idea what I’m referring to – George’s problem with Disney, not the Star Trek reference – here’s the deal in a nutshell..

Recently on his Facebook page, George posted the following graphic about another wildly successful franchise, the Disney Princesses:

Mr. Sulu views the Disney Princesses as a threat to little girls’ power and self-respect. He’s entitled to his opinion but by voicing it publicly he’s disturbed a hornet’s nest when there was really no need.

Seriously, George?

I mean, at this very moment a battle is being fought against the SOPA and PIPA antipiracy bills. Why don’t you devote all your energies to winning that fight?

Do you really need to INVENT a war to fight?

FOCUS ON ENTERTAINING US, GEORGE!

 Just remember George… THEY’RE CARTOONS!!!

It’s up to parents to educate their children, not The Walt Disney Company. They can create a fictional universe to their standards if they so choose. You want to impact the world in a positive  way? Stop working for Howard Stern…

Not A Snowball’s Chance For “Sonny With A Chance”!

Demi Lovato, photo shot with The Jonas Brother...

What’s the deal with The Walt Disney Company and their female idols? Have they all been mentored by Charlie Sheen?

Demi Lovato, fallen idol and star of the Disney tween comedy Sonny With A Chance has  decided not to return to the show that made her a star in the first place.

Lovato made headlines for all the wrong reasons last year when she did the Hollywood thing and entered a treatment facility for three months for “emotional and physical issues”.

These issues have been revealed as self-mutilation (cuts on her forearms) and bi-polar disorder. Lovato’s world came crashing down while she toured with ex-squeeze Joe Jonas (Tremendously bad idea!) and he decided to bring along his new squeeze Ashley Greene of Twilight fame!

Not surprisingly, Lovato snapped under the pressure and assaulted one of her backup singers.

Now she’s back, but Disney claims she wishes to focus on her career and “not immediately” return to acting. Apparently Lovato told People magazine that returning  to the show “wouldn’t be healthy for her recovery and that she wants to make music her priority“.

Yeah, Demi, the music industry doesn’t have the rampant drug or other harmful abuses use you find in the acting biz.

God’s Gift To Hackers: Vanessa Hudgens!

Raven hair, a perky smile and a teenybopper voice make for a great Disney product. A penchant for nude self-portraits and poor firewalls, not so much. Vanessa was the cute little mathlete in Walt Disney’s High School Musical series,  but … Continue reading
