#139: Ninja Veggies!

These are the vegetables that hide underneath other foods on your plate.

If you’re like me, you eat all your veggies first so you can concentrate on – and enjoy – the meat and potatoes. To be honest, I mostly enjoy the meat.

No jokes!

At any rate, I hate it when I polish off the vegetables, lift up the meat to dig in… and discover a few stragglers!

That really BURNS me up! And no, I’m not twelve-years-old, I just really don’t care for veggies…

Vegetables suck! There, I said it! Let the chips fall where they may…

  1. Veggies suck. Period. No good time to eat them. Lol. Although I hate peas so much (even did a post on it) I even learned how to swallow them whole like pills just so I didn’t have to smell or taste their awfulness. Lol

  2. Come on now hook, could you honestly live without, say, tomatoes? My favorite is broccoli, corn, carrots, and of course tomatoes … I’m sure if there were no veggies, you’d miss them. :) I sound like your mother, I suspect. Sorry about that. By the way, I think potatoes are considered a veggie… if I’m not mistaken.

  3. I couldn’t agree more. There is not one vegetable that tastes very good. Then there’s the nasty ones like beets….ugh…gross.

  4. Ewww. Veggie stragglers under the meat. Everything should stay on it’s assigned seat on the plate – no touching! (Those plant derivatives are so invasive….thats what forks are for: smush the intruders as a warning to the others!)

  5. Oh Hook, Hook. You’ve read our blog, I bet we could make some vegetables you’ld like. We have even gotten brussels sprouts haters to eat and like brussels sprouts.

  6. You just don’t know how to cook em properly ;)

  7. I am the opposite. It pisses me off when I am left with only one thing on my plate! Hahaha!

  8. I LOVE veges! except of course brussel sprouts and those that are cooked beyond death and are a pale resemblance of their former glorious selves.

  9. I would call that a vegetable sneak attack! I always feel sad when that happens… like I failed in eating all my veggies!

  10. Ok. Let’s make a deal. You can have all my meat (just not my fish or seafood), and I get all your vegetables.

    Deal????

Mmmmm…. I love veggies here in China, but surprisingly, I am very picky about my veggies in Canada. It is funny here, we have so many veggies that I’ve never seen before and I don’t even think many of them have common names in English. But in Chinese, all green leafy vegetables are actually called, “green leafy vegetables”. So beet tops, dandelion leaves, ice burg lettuce, spinach… all have proper names yes in Chinese, but also called green leafy vegetable!! LOL!!!

  11. Ah Hook – if you tried my veges you’d think different. I have converted even the biggest vege haters to eating beetroot/broccoli/brussel sprouts…

  12. i love potatoes… my mother believes that someday there would be a potato under my blanket instead of me :-) but meat…. no way. :-(
