#155: Mother Nature’s Anti-NASCAR Vendetta!

This one is for the speed demons and rednecks among us.

You know who you are. Unless you’re too drunk to know better… Never mind.

Here’s the skinny: NASCAR postponed The Great American Race after heavy rain saturated Daytona International Speedway on Sunday.

Officials spent more than four hours waiting for a window to dry the famed track, but their prayers and human sacrifices (Hey, it could have happened!) were in vain. And when the latest storm cell passed over the speedway, they had little choice but to call it a day and reschedule.

Can you imagine the uproar? I would have loved to have seen the crowd’s faces; the looks of sheer horror and disgust pasted on their drooling faces would have been priceless!

The 500-mile race was rescheduled for Noon ET on Monday. It will be aired on Fox.

If Fate is through toying with NASCAR, that is.

  1. Wow! And I thought that all the Nascar fans were in the South!

  2. Some of those NASCAR fans seem a little blood-thirsty to me. I’d think they’d love the excitement of watching cars wreck into each other on a wet track. I suspect as di-hard as a lot of them are, they’d have happily drowned to watch their favorite driver skid into the finish line. ;) Those darned officials are such party-poopers.

  3. If you can’t wait until noon to see how this plays out, just spin in a circle 500 times and your thirst shall be quenched. You’ll also be dizzy and nauseous, but you’d likely feel the same had you watched the race.

  4. I think a lot of beer was sacrificed behind the scenes….

  5. I think my dad had a lot to do with this. He was complaining yesterday that our weekend trip took him away from NASCAR. He’s so happy he didn’t really miss it!

  6. Aren’t they ALWAYS drooling?

  7. Nascar.. I never would have thought!!!!!

My fingers are crossed you got your show in!!!!

  8. Damn that… we have a pretty good Aussie in that there Nascar! Haven’t ever watched it though (unless you count days of thunder that is, lol)
