#48: Dealing With Insurance Companies!

This one fills you with dread and revulsion, right?

Most people would rather have a root canal, accompanied by their mother-in-law, while listening to a compilation of nails scraping a chalkboard than deal with an insurance agent!

I have nothing against those who toil in the industry, I’ve known many fine agents, but the very nature of the modern insurance industry is overwhelming to the common man.

Have you ever tried to file a claim? I say “tried”, because the last thing any insurance agent wants to do is approve paperwork that releases funds to a client. That doesn’t sit well with the “Boys Upstairs”.

After all, you’re supposed to put money into your company’s coffers, not take it back out when you need it.

After all, that would go against the very principles these companies were founded on, right?

  1. Funny. I despise the paperwork so much. For me it is, the double speak language that forms are written in. It’s infuriating.

  2. Funny thing you should talk about rip off insurance companies– I don’t care for the whole — “give me your money to insure you & we’ll decide WHEN you really need insuring” concept that insurance companies use. My Uncle Jerry feels the same way & refuses to GET GOT by them. Case in point, my Grandma was admitted in an adult living facility on 9/12/11 @ 81 years old. Uncle Jerry paid the full months rent upfront ) waiting for the insurance to reimburse). Immediately he got “resistance” about the refund. Then Granny died 3 days later 9/15/11 & Uncle Jerry was out of pocket for a nice chunk of change. On 9/20/11 Uncle Jerry moved into Granny’s assisted living apartment & refuses to leave until 10/12/11 — sine no refund or prorate will be given to him by the property or the insurance company. Uncle J. is only 60 & needs no assistance. LOL!! He insists on enjoying his investment now & the weird thing is, they can not kick him out w/o giving his money back. The insurance co. Won’t reimburse him, so for the next few wks we can reach him at the retirement home. I hear he’s turned into quite the bachelors pad too. LOL!! Real Talk.
