I know as a species, we are capable of anything.
But do I believe the same of myself?
Growing up, I recall teacher after teacher telling me I had “great potential”. You don’t hear that when you’re an adult.
Could it be, as adults, we don’t believe in the same truths?
Or were they ever truths to begin with?
Maybe the reason certain individuals stand out so much in our society isn’t a matter of their greatness, but our willingness to accept our own mediocrity. Would these people be as exceptional in a world where everyone acheived their potential?
I don’t know, but I’d love to see that world.

Very thought provoking.
I hear a lot of “everyone is special or an individual” that parents (maybe teachers) seem to be drumming into kids. Such as giving kids an award for participating in sporting events instead of winning them. Let’s encourage but not over promise.
That sounds reasonable.
I think adults have potential too. We’ve just learned how to hide it better.
I think you’re right!
