I know some of you may be tired of casting news, especially where comic book films are concerned.
Tough noogies! I have a special place in my cold, black heart for All-Things Comic Book and I’m not stopping now!
According to Entertainment Weekly, Cobie Smulders will play the role of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Maria Hill in the ultimate Marvel Comics movie, The Avengers. Smulders is known for her work on How I Met Your Mother. That’s the CBS hit comedy without the drunk at the helm, (Sorry, Charlie, it had to be said!)
Director Joss Whedon, known far and wide as the creator of the only version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer worth mentioning, has been rumored to have hand-picked Smulders. EW feels pretty strongly that we can expect full confirmation on her casting soon.
The Avengers is due to hit theaters on May 4, 2012, although the date may depend on whether or not upcoming films Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor do well with fanboy audiences.
Lindsay Strikes Again!
It would appear Little Lindsay Lohan is unhappy with all the attention Mr. Charlie Sheen has been grabbing for himself lately. How else do you explain the latest public relations and legal bear trap she’s stepped in?
According to published reports, Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer has confirmed God’s Other Gift to TMZ.com will fight any theft charges brought against her by the Los Angeles District Attorney over a missing necklace.
The actress is expected to be charged with felony grand theft for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California jewellery store on Monday. And now her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley has released a statement insisting the actress will fight any charges brought against her.
Holley says, “We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court.”
According to law enforcement sources, Lohan was seen in store security footage wearing the necklace before it was reported missing. A Lohan minion (A Lohanian? Yes/No?) took the necklace to the Pacific Division police station just before a planned police raid on her premises.
I bet those cops were disappointed. Can you imagine what they would find at her place? I know she’s no Charlie Sheen, but there is bound to be some sweet stuff lying around that pad. Then again, they’re both into drugs and girls, aren’t they?
And Lohan’s ongoing legal troubles don’t end there – there is still the ongoing investigation in Riverside County for allegedly assaulting a worker at the Betty Ford Clinic.
Lindsay hasn’t worked in some time, how the heck is she paying for these legal battles? Sheen has supposedly been texting his porn star pals and asking them to stay away from him for now.
Maybe he and Lindsay can work something out…
